Our ExoGen Story
ExoGen develops next-generation 3D-printed space food and dietary supplements to support astronaut health during long-duration space missions.
Future missions to the Moon, Mars, and deep space face major challenges in food supply. Current space food relies heavily on pre-packaged meals supplied from Earth, which creates limitations on storage and shelf life and results in costly resupply missions. In addition, astronauts often experience changes in taste and appetite in microgravity, which can lead to inadequate nutrient intake and reduced mission performance.
ExoGen addresses these challenges by transforming biomass produced in space life-support environments into nutritious and appealing 3D-printed dietary supplements and foods. This approach enables astronauts to produce fresh, nutrient-rich food during missions while reducing dependency on Earth-based resupply.
The resulting space food is compact, stable, and enjoyable to consume, while supporting astronaut wellbeing and performance during long-duration missions. ExoGen contributes to the development of sustainable food solutions for future human exploration beyond Earth.
